(CMP) provides vocational training, employment services, educational programs and economic development opportunities to disadvantaged immigrants and refugees throughout New York City. Founded in 1972 to provide Chinese immigrants with job training, Chinatown Manpower Project, Inc has extended its efforts to reach new constitutiencies and expand our services to include vocational training in a variety of professions, career counseling and job placement, ESL courses, youth programs, high-tech computer training, and business development programs. In the beginning, CMP offered English lessons and keypunch instructions in a single room of a Chinatown church. Today it offers more than 8 programs for people with a wide range of backgrounds and aspirations, from students to budding entrepreneurs. Our headquarters are in the top three floors of a former school building on the corner of Mulberry and Bayard Streets, with satellite offices on Canal Street and in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. |
