Let’s rebuild together!
CHALLENGES THE ASIAN AMERICAN CUMMUNITY IS FACING
Economic Challenges:
The COVID-19 crisis has far-reaching impact on everyone, especially on Asian Americans workers, their families, and small businesses.
In NYC, the growth in Asian Americans filing for unemployment claims outpaced all other groups.
Asian American small businesses were left in the dark. They were hit not only harder, but also earlier by the COVID-19 crisis.
Many undocumented immigrants who make up a significant portion of our society's workforce lost their livelihoods. Plus, with limited, or even no access to COVID-19 relief programs.
Social Challenges
Asian Americans have been forced to face the skyrocketing Anti-Asian attacks and hate crimes since the pandemic.
Asian American immigrants are also experiencing disparities in access to relief programs due to language barriers, lack of reliable information and resource channels, and digital divide.
Our Actions and Service Impact
Despite losing our home in a 5-alarm fire just 2 months before COVID-19 shut down NYC, CMP quickly pivoted our services and focused on adapting and adjusting to meet the needs of the people we serve. We have been playing a key role in helping our community recover from the unprecedented crisis.
