How Our Train & Earn Program Participants Helped the City's 2020 Census Outreach Efforts

Our 22 Train & Earn Program graduates have successfully completed their post-program internship on August 1st! Guided by our internship specialist, our participants took advantage of a rare work experience opportunity with the NYC 2020 Census community outreach project, called residents in all five boroughs to remind them of and help them with their 2020 Census Questionnaire.

Our participants worked 25 hours per week for 6 weeks and reached out to a total of 86,979 NYC residents. In the process, they earned on average $2,157 per person - a not-so-small income for disadvantaged families, especially in the pandemic. And more importantly, they overcame their fear of language barriers, took on and became good at the tasks of calling strangers on the phone, and helped the City's 2020 Census outreach efforts. This got to be an amazing and unforgettable experience for our mostly new immigrant youth participants.

Train & Earn Program Starts A New Cycle Today!

Our Train & Earn Program starts a new cycle today! Through remote learning, 24 young participants will improve their computer, English reading and writing, and math skills, and get trained on work readiness in 13 weeks. We will also provide assistance on their college and financial aid applications when they successfully finish the program.

Amidst the COVID-19 crisis and despite all the challenges we have been facing, CMP will continue our role as a community service organization!

A Visit to NBCUniversal

As part of the NBC/Comcast Cares Day, the APA (Asian Pacific Americans) group @NBCU invited our OSY (Out-of-School) program participants to the media giantโ€™s headquarters located at 30 Rockefeller Plaza on Thursday, May 2, 2019!

Our OSY participants were delighted to visit the iconic NBC studios and interacted with its friendly employees.  They enjoyed immensely the lively conversations, career tips from NBC Universal professionals, and the pizzas!  Thank you, the APA group, for providing such a valuable and unforgettable experience for our new immigrant students๏ผ
