On November 16th, CMP proudly hosted a McKinsey Career Forum, a dynamic event that brought together 7 accomplished McKinsey volunteers and 25 enthusiastic job fair participants.

The forum kicked off with a "Break-the-Ice" session, introducing each McKinsey volunteer and offering insights into McKinsey's impactful journey. Following this, attendees were grouped for lively discussions, providing a platform to share experiences and gather valuable career advice.

The highlight of the event is the unique opportunity for participants to connect one-on-one with McKinsey volunteers, fostering meaningful connections and expanding professional networks.

CMP extends heartfelt gratitude to McKinsey and all participants for making this event a resounding success!

T&E Program Graduates: Bright Futures Ahead!

🎓 Our T&E program students graduated on October 26 after starting their journey with us on August 7! 🎊

🙌 Under our instructors' guidance, they boosted their English, math, computer skills, and work readiness. 📚🧑🏻‍💻These students have applied for college. Next up: paid internship programs and a bright future! 🌅

🚑 CMP hosted an enlightening EMS Trainee Program Info Session in partnership with FDNY (New York City Fire Department) on October 26th! Attendees gained insights into the exam application process and the prerequisites for becoming EMS Trainees.

A Day of Doing Good with Regeneron at CMP

🤝 On October 25, CMP hosted a Day of Doing Good with Regeneron!

👥 24 enthusiastic volunteers from Regeneron and 69 of our CMP students came together at our office. Each group worked hand in hand, focusing on improving English skills.

💬 Students engaged in small English talks and mock interviews. The experience was invaluable for everyone involved! 📚✨

💞 A big thank you to all the wonderful volunteers for sharing their experiences and tips on language acquisition, cultural adaptation, and career success with our program participants! 🙌

🎉 What a successful day at CMP's Semi-annual Job Fair!

With 450 job seekers and 40 dynamic employers from various fields, including healthcare, business, nonprofits, finance, retail, city, and state agencies, notable entities like FDNY, Rendr, SinoVision, and our esteemed collaborators TD Bank and Chinatown YMCA, the event was a triumph 🌟 The event aimed at providing inclusive opportunities, and our multi-lingual flyers contributed to broadening community reach 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

📈 To enhance the preparation of job seekers, CMP partnered with volunteers from McKinsey & Company, offering valuable services like resume review and mock interviews during the job fair. The mock interviews with McKinsey received fantastic reviews✨

Funded by the NYS Dept. of State, in collaboration with the Asian American Federation, CMP also offered free Safety Training to all job fair attendees. This initiative aimed to empower individuals, better prepare them for unexpected situations, and equip them with the skills to safely and effectively protect themselves ✊

From Immigrant to Hotel Manager: CMP's Transformative Impact

Dongxiao Wu, a single mother who arrived in the U.S. in 2017, faced language barriers and an unfamiliar environment. With the support of CMP's Adult Literacy Program and her dedicated teacher, Peter Gu, she began her transformative journey.

Through various CMP programs, Dongxiao not only improved her English but also gained vital life skills. She delved into workshops, attended job fairs, and explored financial literacy.  Dongxiao's journey from her student life at Laguardia Community College to her first job at the Richland Hotel and eventually becoming a hotel manager assistant is a testament to the power of education and support.
